Go Ape at Beecraigs!
It’s time to roll out the woodchip, break out the bananas, send out a long awaited Tarzan call, as Go Ape tree top adventure opens its forest foray at Beecraigs Country Park.
The award winning Go Ape thrives on encouraging tribes of families, friends and groups to live life adventurously. Unleash your inner ape and get to grips with a giant tree top obstacle course of ladders, bridges, tunnels, walkways and wind-in-your-face zip wires; all set some 40ft high up in the treetops.
Open to the public from Saturday 15th May, Go Ape at Beecraigs is one of four new tree top adventures for 2010, bringing the total across the UK to twenty-six. Nearly two million Gorillas and Baboons have been living life adventurously at Go Ape since the origin of the species in 2002. The new course at Beecraigs has been built using the successful Go Ape formula: find one beautiful forest location; throw in a network of treetop high wires and zip slides; inject a healthy amount of challenge; add a team of experienced adventurers and finish off with Gorillas and Baboons in search of their Tarzan and you’ll have an unforgettable inspiring adventure with awesome experience, breathtaking views, natural highs and lots of laughs.
This time last decade the concept of Go Ape was just a twinkle in a chimp’s eye, eight years on and Go Ape has become something of a UK phenomenon.
Go Ape tree top adventure thrives on encouraging tribes of families, friends and groups to live life adventurously, that was always the Chief Gorilla’s dream: inspire the nation, young and old, dare them to take to the trees, and create an adventure where they can discover their inner ape high up in the forest canopy.
Could it be the raw fun and breathtaking experience of Go Ape that has made it a national pastime? Or the sense of triumph and leg-flinging freedom that keeps Tribes coming back for more? Whether it’s sharing challenging achievements or monkeying around with mates, something is certain; Go Ape is one amazing way to spend a day.
Tree trekking 40ft above the forest floor invigorates your fun-loving monkey in ways you just can’t imagine. It’s a real-time adventure where you can take a walk on the wild side and get to grips with a giant treetop obstacle course of ladders, bridges, tunnels, walkways and wind-in-your-face zip wires.
Safety apes are in place. Before you release your inner ape you’ll be kitted out with all the gear; harnesses, pulleys and karabiners. A Go Ape instructor will show you the ropes in a safety briefing and then you’re free to swing, climb, crawl and zip through the trees. Confidence building and Tarzan call training is not included, but usually come naturally during a Go Ape adventure.

I recently had the privilege of trying out the new Go Ape treetop adventure at Beecraigs and I must say that I enjoyed the experience! It is challenging and thrilling without being unduly difficult to get round. Safety is a prime consideration and good instruction is given on the use of the safety equipment before customers venture up into the trees.

This is a great addition to the wide range of attractions available in and around Linlithgow and I'm sure it will be a great success.
